MONKEYmedia Says No More Monkeying with Seamless TV Patents

Inventor Behind Telescoping Ads To Sit Down With Violators

AUSTIN, Texas--()--MONKEYmedia, Inc., the patent holder of the inventions behind today’s critical interactive TV and telescopic advertising technologies, has announced that it plans to meet with industry leaders at this month’s Digital Hollywood conference to resolve the fact that they may be in violation of patents in the company’s broad-reaching portfolio. Qualifying companies attending the event in Santa Monica, October 19 - 22, will be invited to become legitimate users, as others have, of the patented technologies through MONKEYmedia’s SeamlessTV™ Partner Program.

“Fifteen years ago, we had a vision of the future that people didn’t believe was worth patenting because it would never come to pass in the television marketplace,” said Eric Gould Bear, President and CEO of MONKEYmedia. “Today the methods have now become so ubiquitous that people are amazed these patents actually exist. It’s ironic, but not surprising, given how hard it is for people to remember life before TiVo and DVD.” MONKEYmedia is meeting with companies to spread awareness and help them appreciate the non-optional nature of their partner licensing program.

Membership in the SeamlessTV Partner Program is an efficient and inexpensive way for companies to alleviate concerns about infringement of MONKEYmedia's patents, which are essential to the practice of various industry-governed standards such as tru2way. The SeamlessTV Partner Program makes licenses available to companies using MONKEYmedia's patented inventions for telescoping ads and interactive video experiences on DVD, Blu-ray, set-top boxes, DVRs, smart TVs, mobile devices and the Internet.

MONKEYmedia is a major sponsor of the Digital Hollywood conference and will be holding a VIP breakfast briefing on Tuesday, October 20th at 7:30am. Bear will provide demonstrations and a walkthrough of the program specifics. Reservations can be made by emailing VIP@monkey.com. Bear will also be on panels with representatives of Comcast, Fox, MGM, Rovi (formerly Macrovision) and others on the forefront of interactive video.

Attendees interested in private meetings with MONKEYmedia while in the Los Angeles area should contact Elizabeth Crinejo at 512-650-1080 x183 to schedule an appointment or stop by suite #618 at Digital Hollywood for additional information.

“Our goal is not to penalize, but to empower creative and profitable uses of our seamless expansion and contraction inventions,” Bear added. “We’re thrilled to see major players doing this and love that the United States patent system supports the success of small independent inventors like MONKEYmedia.”
