Gary Dicovitsky to Head Major Gifts Program at the Prostate Cancer Foundation

Veteran Executive Named Executive Vice President of Development

SANTA MONICA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Gary Dicovitsky, a twenty-six year veteran in philanthropic fundraising, has joined the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) as executive vice president of development. In his new position, he is in charge of leading the PCF’s major gifts program and other development efforts. Dicovitsky has led successful campaigns at some of the nation’s leading organizations including Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the California Institute of Technology and Pomona College. He has also managed fundraising efforts at Princeton University, University of Virginia and Dartmouth College.

“I am thrilled to be joining the talented team of Board and staff members at the PCF”

During his tenure at the California Institute of Technology, Dicovitsky coordinated a comprehensive fundraising campaign that raised $1.4 billion, including a single commitment of $600 million. At Pomona College, he was the architect of a $150 million comprehensive campaign. It was the largest fundraising effort in the college’s history, exceeding the campaign’s goal by 37 percent and raising a total of $206 million.

“We are delighted to have Gary join the PCF’s leadership team,” commented Dr. Jonathan W. Simons, president and CEO of the PCF. “Gary brings strong assets to our Foundation. His understanding of the landscapes at both research institutions and cancer foundations, and his proven successes in leading major gift initiatives at research-intensive institutions, will aid us in reaching our urgent goals.”

Dicovitsky, who holds a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College and a Master of Education degree from Loyola College, will assume his full-time responsibility at the PCF starting October 16. Until then, he is working part-time on focused PCF projects.

“I am thrilled to be joining the talented team of Board and staff members at the PCF,” said Dicovitsky. “I share their intense commitment to finding a cure for prostate cancer—a disease that touches nearly everyone directly or indirectly—and I look forward to contributing to this important effort.”

Dicovitsky currently serves as a board member and chairman of the finance committee for the International Foundation, founded to help people of the developing world in their endeavors to solve local problems, attain a better standard of living and obtain a reasonable degree of self-sufficiency. He is a member of the Planned Giving Roundtable of Southern California and the National Committee on Planned Giving. He also serves as the Dartmouth College Class Chair for Gift Planning.
