Candace Adams Joins SmartRevenue as President, Global Retail Strategy

Former Walmart Shopper Research Exec to Focus on the In-Store Experience

STAMFORD, Conn.--()--SmartRevenue, a leader in shopper-centric marketing research and consulting, today announced that Candace Adams, Ph.D. has been named to the new position of President, Global Retail Strategy. Adams, who most recently served as Senior Director for Customer In-store Experience Insights at Walmart, reports to John Dranow, CEO of SmartRevenue, and will be based in Richmond, VA.

“This is a big win for our clients, who will have one of the industry’s most accomplished experts working on their behalf. Personally, there is no one in the business whom I respect more.”

At SmartRevenue, Adams will help retailers leverage their knowledge of consumers and stores to improve the customer experience, drive more shopping trips and grow market basket size. Adams will also help SmartRevenue customers push the dialog with their trading partners to develop solutions that support the goals of all value chain participants.

“For the past three years in her role at Walmart, Candace has conducted best-in-class research that has led to the transformation of the store, both externally and internally. She is largely responsible for the makeover of Walmart stores and the Walmart shopping experience, so SmartRevenue feels fortunate she is joining our team,” said Dranow. “This is a big win for our clients, who will have one of the industry’s most accomplished experts working on their behalf. Personally, there is no one in the business whom I respect more.”

Drawing on her expertise in developing mathematical models of behavior and background in behavioral psychology, Adams has played a major role in shaping Walmart’s knowledge of the changes needed to improve the customer experience.

“Retailers truly need to become advocates for the customer; not just help him or her have a pleasant shopping experience. During these recessionary times, and thereafter for that matter, all retailers need to perform at the top of their ability. My role at SmartRevenue will be to help them do just that,” Adams said.

Adams holds a doctorate in Research and Statistics from Virginia Tech, earned her Master’s degree in Behavioral Psychology and Program Evaluation from Radford University, and has a BS in Political Science and Sociology from University of Maryland. Her previous work experience includes two years at Research International prior to joining Walmart and 10 years at Philip Morris (Altria), where she generated mathematical models of behavior.
