DETROIT--()--Residents of Grand Rapids, Mich. now have a new alternative to costly traditional wireless service plans. MetroPCS Communications, Inc. (NYSE: PCS), the nation’s leading provider of unlimited wireless communications service, announces the launch of its low-cost, flat-rate unlimited wireless services with no signed contract in Grand Rapids, Muskegon and Holland. MetroPCS currently offers service in Detroit, Flint, Lansing, Saginaw, Bay City, and Midland.
“Highest In Customer Satisfaction With Wireless Prepaid Service”
MetroPCS offers a diverse selection of service plans, which allow customers to talk 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week, and enhanced service options so that residents of Grand Rapids, Muskegon and Holland can create a wireless experience that best fits their lifestyles. With MetroPCS, customers pay by the month, not by the minute, and services do not require a signed contract, deposit or credit check. Service plans start as low as $30 per month, and unlimited long distance service to the 48 continental United States and Puerto Rico is available with service plans as low as $35 per month. The first month of service is included with the purchase of a phone and there is no activation fee or hidden charges.
“The Grand Rapids launch marks the continuation of MetroPCS’ expansion across Michigan, creating a more extensive coverage area and convenient corporate stores and dealer locations,” said Glen Flowers, vice president and general manager, MetroPCS Michigan. “With the current state of the economy, consumers are looking for the most value for their money, and this expansion brings a cost-effective product to cost-conscious consumers while providing exceptional customer service.”
Upon launch of service, MetroPCS will have one corporate-owned store and 50 authorized dealer locations throughout the Grand Rapids area. MetroPCS’ entry into the market will create more than 58 jobs in the area.
MetroPCS offers a number of unlimited service options, including unlimited family plans, MetroPCS Unlimited NationwideSM and GroupLINESM. MetroPCS Unlimited NationwideSM allows MetroPCS customers to use their service in more than 4,600 cities and towns in the continental United States. This expanded network is included at no additional charge in MetroPCS’ current $45 and $50 service plans and can be added for $5 per month on other qualified MetroPCS service plans. MetroPCS GroupLINESM allows up to five MetroPCS’ Family Plan customers to receive calls on a shared GroupLINE number while still maintaining their individual mobile numbers. Any caller, whether or not they are a MetroPCS subscriber, can call the GroupLINE number, and reach all of the subscribers on the plan simultaneously. With GroupLINE, family members are all connected with each other as well as the incoming caller.
Continued consumer demand for MetroPCS’ wireless service as well as entry into new markets, such as Grand Rapids, has been the driving factor behind the company’s growth to approximately 6.1 million subscribers nationwide as of March 31, 2009.
Consumers can visit any of MetroPCS’ current authorized dealer locations or visit MetroPCS’ web site at www.metropcs.com to sign up for service plans, choose from a lineup of wireless phones from the top handset manufacturers, including the Samsung Finesse™, and receive a complete list of locations where expanded coverage is offered.
