ORLANDO, Fla.--()--At the Florida Educational Technology Conference, a new white paper has been released by the SAM Learning Company of the United Kingdom. The white paper presents the results of the last 12 months of pilot testing of the company’s high school exit exam prep program in the United States.
In addition to reporting about the program’s usage in U.S. schools, the authors studied the scaffolded pedagogy underlying the HSEE prep program as well as its potential and demonstrated impact on high school graduation and preparation for high stakes assessments. The white paper discusses existing research that has been published about student success leading up to graduation and their potential for success in the work force. It also reviews the current research on the program itself.
SAM Learning’s HSEE prep program—an online program for math and science—has been piloted in U.S. schools in urban and rural settings and in varying socio-economic situations. The latest and largest pilot is with Orange County Public Schools where middle and high school students are using it to prepare for high stakes exams in math and science as well as high school exit exams.
With a long history of success in the U.K. and with over 50 percent of the U.K. secondary school market, the company introduced the product to the U.S. in 2007 after aligning it to state standards and the national standards established by the National Science Teachers Association and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. The company is now in the process of rebranding the product for the U.S. market and expects to reveal a new name and product branding in February 2009.
