DisplayLink Technology Brings Plug and Display Simplicity To Newest Toshiba Universal USB Notebook Dock

dynadock U delivers a true hot-desk experience to any laptop with a USB 2.0 connection

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Toshiba Corp. has selected DisplayLink Corp.’s USB graphics technology to drive the simple to connect Toshiba dynadock™ U Universal USB Docking Station.

“As the laptop has become most users’ main command center, universal docks like the Toshiba dynadock U make it easy to organize peripherals and enjoy a completely seamless and productive computing experience.”

Available in the U.S. in early December, the dynadock U allows people to connect any Toshiba or non-Toshiba branded Windows-based laptop to PC peripherals, external monitors, speakers and other accessories via a single USB 2.0 connection from the computer to the dock. USB 2.0 connection is easy-to-use as it is plug-and-play, this is the reason why all peripherals in computing have migrated to support this connection, Using a single USB connection – plus a convenient “undock” button on the top of the device – makes it easy to flip between the mobility of a notebook and the productivity of a desktop environment.

The dynadock U can provide high-resolution up to 26-inch monitor support through an analog video or DVI port, powered by DisplayLink USB graphics hardware and software. The dock also supports mirror mode – the ability to show the same image on the built-in notebook screen and on an external display – and extended mode, which shows a new unique desktop on an external display.

In today’s tough economic climate, the Toshiba dynadock U is a smart choice for consumers and IT departments to deploy. The dynadock U allows consumers to reduce the total cost of ownership of their docking station, as it can be mixed and matched with other laptops. IT managers also benefit from lower costs, since they can standardize on a single, universal dock throughout the organization.

“Those who haven’t considered using a docking station should think again,” said Dennis Crespo, executive vice president of marketing and business development for DisplayLink. “As the laptop has become most users’ main command center, universal docks like the Toshiba dynadock U make it easy to organize peripherals and enjoy a completely seamless and productive computing experience.”

Other robust features of the Toshiba dynadock U include 5.1 digital audio support, six USB ports, 10/100 Ethernet and microphone and headphone jacks. The Toshiba dynadock™ U Universal USB Docking Station is available now at an estimated retail price of $149.99. For more product information or to order, visit www.toshibadirect.com.
