We-Care.com Supports Your Cause When You Shop Online This Holiday Season

Online marketplace offers exclusive deals, coupons, discounts; invites consumers to ‘Shop With Purpose’

Holiday III, Internet Shopper

NEW YORK CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Despite the current economic crisis, holiday shoppers are still expected to spend over $470 billion this holiday season according to the National Retail Federation. Thanks to the new online shopping portal We-Care.com, they can put a percentage of that money to work for nonprofits, schools and associations. Through We-Care.com, shoppers can also save money with exclusive deals, discounts and coupons.

“Online shopping allows consumers to not only avoid crowded stores and save on high fuel costs, but also to compare prices and shop for the best bargains”

Co-founder Kevin Lee said he expects We-Care.com to fill a void during this down economy. “Shoppers give what they can to their personal causes, but are no doubt feeling the realities of a challenging economy,” he said. “We-Care.com saves shoppers money with coupons and special offers, while also generating donations for the organization of their choice.”

We-Care.com’s 700 merchants — from florists, booksellers and clothiers to pet stores, gift basket companies and one-of-a kind boutiques — offer shoppers a wide variety of items sure to suit their holiday shopping needs. The donation percentage for each merchant varies and is listed on the We-Care.com site, and donations can be made to any nonprofit organization. Shoppers can choose from hundreds of organizations already registered or enter information for a new one and begin shopping immediately. Retailers include Target.com, Amazon.com, FAO Schwarz, Zappos.com, Nike and Brookstone. Shoppers can also book holiday or business travel on the site through major online travel agencies and car rental companies. We-Care.com is adding new retailers daily.

Consumers have two ways to shop: clicking through We-Care.com to one of their favorite merchants or downloading the We-Care.com Reminder Plug-In — a secure browser extension that reminds shoppers to make purchases count whenever they visit a participating merchant. All purchases are made directly from the merchant’s site, and shoppers never pay more for using We-Care.com.

E-commerce continues to grow at an upward rate of 15 percent each year, even during challenging economic times, and Bill Snyder, general manager of We-Care.com, estimates that this year will be no different. “Online shopping allows consumers to not only avoid crowded stores and save on high fuel costs, but also to compare prices and shop for the best bargains,” Snyder said. “With We-Care.com, money you’re already spending can be directed to the cause of your choice — at no extra cost to you. Simply adding an extra click to your normal shopping routine can make a huge difference for a nonprofit facing challenging economic times.”

Launched earlier this year, We-Care.com is simple to use and is free for both organizations and their supporters. For more information, please visit www.we-care.com.
