Upgraded Software-Based VPN Solution Doubles Connection Speeds Across WLAN and WWAN Environments

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Columbitech today announced the latest version of its Mobile VPN software that includes new features and user enhancements. The user experience is now improved with more than double the connection speed, providing increased productivity. Mobile users will experience significantly faster performance over WLAN and WWAN networks, including WiMAX and 3G networks.

With support for Local LAN access, Columbitech Mobile VPN users can now benefit from the shared resources of a split-tunneling VPN without the security vulnerabilities of multiple, simultaneous connections. For IT administrators, they can configure the client to access specific resources, such as a printer, on the local network without interrupting the user connection to the VPN server. In addition, specific user performance statistics are now available through the VPN Server Administrative Tool, which include such metrics as length of connections and data amount transferred.

Enhanced Windows-based features for the Columbitech Mobile VPN include support for Windows Domain authentication over LDAP. The Columbitech Mobile VPN streamlines the setup process by allowing authentication against a Windows Domain without requiring the VPN server to be a member of the domain. Support for Windows Vista has also been added to the Columbitech Mobile VPN’s list of operating systems, which already includes Windows CE, Windows Mobile 5/6, Windows XP/2000, DOS, and others.
