PHILADELPHIA--()--As an answer to the increasing size of distributed workforces, the need for environmental responsibility, and alarming fluctuations in the global energy market, ProtonMedia (www.protonmedia.com) is launching a "Go Green, Go Virtual" initiative and non-profit foundation.
The goal of “Go Green, Go Virtual” is to promote energy conservation through the use of virtual world technology for meetings, training, and work-group collaboration. ProtonMedia believes that the adoption of ProtoSphere-based virtual worlds will fundamentally change institutional energy use habits and decrease their overall carbon footprint. Specifically, the “Go Green, Go Virtual” initiative will:
- Promote virtual events over live, physical meetings, training sessions, etc;
- Significantly reduce the need for business travel
- Reduce individual energy use through the advocacy of telecommuting
- Encourage companies to adopt a model of networked, collaborative work groups
The "Go Green, Go Virtual" non-profit foundation will be funded by ProtonMedia which will donate a percentage of its profits from the licensing of ProtoSphere for telecommuting and live-event replacement. The foundation will utilize these funds to support worthy organizations dedicated to promoting environmental responsibility through energy conservation and alternative energy use.
ProtoSphere is the leading enterprise virtual world platform and supports telecommuting and the replacement of live events through its robust suite of integrated productivity tools such as application sharing, video telepresence, and social networking. ProtoSphere is deployed in Fortune 1000 companies around the world and is used for workgroup collaboration, training, and distance learning.
