GEICO Names Nancy Pierce Vice President of Claims Home Office
WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GEICO’s board of directors recently announced that Nancy Pierce has been named vice president of claims home office operations in the company’s headquarters in Chevy Chase, Md. For the past two years, Pierce has served as regional vice president of GEICO’s Mid-Atlantic operations located in Fredericksburg, Va.
“I’m very excited about the new challenges ahead of me and look forward to working with the associates in claims again,” Pierce said of her new opportunity.
Originally from Benedict, Md., Pierce began her career with GEICO in 1986 as a claims associate in the company’s headquarters where she subsequently held supervisory and management positions in regional claims departments and participated in the Executive Assistant Program.
From 2000 to 2006, she headed GEICO’s West Coast operations located in San Diego, Calif., as regional vice president. Prior to that, she served as vice president for underwriting and product management, and was the assistant vice president for underwriting in GEICO’s regional office in Fredericksburg.
Pierce is a graduate of The American University in Washington, D.C.
This career movement comes as GEICO announces two other top-level management changes as John Izzo becomes regional vice president with responsibilities for Middle Atlantic regional operations based in Fredericksburg, Va., after serving as regional vice president in the company’s Macon, Ga., office since 2005. Shawn Burklin will assume Izzo’s former position in Macon after serving as vice president of GEICO’s claims home office since last year.
“We are fortunate at GEICO to have such capable and experienced associates who are ready, willing and able to take on these new responsibilities,” said Tony Nicely, GEICO CEO and Chairman. “These associates bring fresh perspectives to their new responsibilities and will make us a stronger, more effective company in the process.”
