MAYNARD, Mass.--()--Monster®, the leading global online careers and recruitment resource and flagship brand of Monster Worldwide, Inc. (NASDAQ: MNST), today announced the appointment of Ted Gilvar to the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Global Marketing Officer. In his new role, Gilvar will oversee all aspects of Monster’s global marketing strategy and continue to advance the Company’s multifaceted advertising and branding initiatives.
“Aside from the fact that Ted’s a class act, this was an opportunity that we were consulted on and collectively agreed would be great for Monster. And it demonstrates the extent to which we are willing to partner with our clients”
Over his more than 20 years of experience in advertising and marketing, Mr. Gilvar has led successful campaigns, re-branding initiatives and new product launches for some of the world’s best brands. Most recently, Mr. Gilvar was Executive Vice President and Senior Director at BBDO where he managed the Monster business as well as the National Football League, Target, Guinness and Red Stripe for Diageo. He spent his first several years at BBDO leading the AOL business.
“Ted is no stranger to Monster having played an integral leadership role in Monster’s ‘Your Calling is Calling’ campaign, essentially functioning as an extension of the Monster marketing and leadership teams,” said Sal Iannuzzi, Chairman, President and CEO, Monster. “Over the past several months Ted has been engrained in our organization, imparting his vast marketing and branding expertise to help further Monster’s mission to inspire people to improve their lives. We are pleased to welcome Ted and look forward to his continued contribution to evolving the Monster brand.”
“Monster is a truly unique brand. Not only does it have strong equity as a category pioneer, but it has unprecedented global reach. Monster also has a management team that clearly understands the commitment and investment needed to maintain its leadership in an evolving market,” said Gilvar. “I’m excited about this opportunity and look forward to the continued Monster/BBDO collaboration as we work to unlock the brand’s vast potential.”
“Aside from the fact that Ted’s a class act, this was an opportunity that we were consulted on and collectively agreed would be great for Monster. And it demonstrates the extent to which we are willing to partner with our clients,” commented John Osborn, President and CEO, BBDO New York. “Ted was part of the team that helped bring this business to BBDO and which helped uncover the strategic insights that led to the development of the ‘Your Calling is Calling’ campaign. So it seems only fitting that he should take this perspective to the client side to help further drive the business.”
Prior to his time at BBDO, Mr. Gilvar held leadership positions at Hill/Holliday, Mullen, and McKinney & Silver. He started his career at global agency Saatchi & Saatchi. Over his expansive and impressive career, Ted has developed an expertise in marketing strategy, media planning and creative oversight.
