Job Opportunities Available

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Who you know is just as important as what you know. With a twist on the more common adage in mind, the Westchester/Greater Connecticut Chapter of the National Black MBA Association (www.nbmbaa-wgc.com) will host two events at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in White Plains, NY on Thursday, June 12, 2008 to help local minority professionals make powerful connections. The Chapter’s 2nd Annual Entrepreneur Summit and Business Showcase will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The organization’s 2nd Annual Professional Diversity Career Summit will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“The Summit & Showcase has become a must-attend for those seeking global growth in the competitive 21st century business environment.”

The Entrepreneur Summit assists business owners in moving their enterprises to the next level, and targets established, new, and prospective entrepreneurs.

“The event brings together minority entrepreneurs, supplier diversity experts, and financial and lending professionals in an atmosphere perfect for networking and deal-making,” said Michael McNeil, NBMBAA-WGC President. “The Summit & Showcase has become a must-attend for those seeking global growth in the competitive 21st century business environment.”

Participants may exhibit their products and services and take part in forums that provide salient advice on growing their business. The “Financial Hour of Power” seminar offers assistance with preparing a business plan and financial documents, and helps identify funding sources. Other sessions will include “Promoting Your Brand,” “Becoming the Preferred Supplier,” and “Entrepreneur and Franchising Opportunities.” To register, visit www.nbmbaa-wgc.com.

Also on tap is a Career Summit, which will allow business professionals to discuss job opportunities with recruiters from Westchester and Fairfield-area corporations representing a wide variety of industries. The event’s unique “employment networking format” is suited to seasoned employees. And the new “Business Spotlight” session features corporate partners leading conversations about their company’s key business initiatives.

“Our goal is to help our corporate partners fill open positions,” said NBMBAA-WGC Employment Committee Chair Margaret Gibson. “In addition to on-site interviewing, the event offers candidates the chance to learn more about the employers during the Business Spotlight segment.”

According to Ms. Gibson, “The NBMBAA-WGC is committed to creating career opportunities for its members. Recruiting and retaining highly talented minority professionals are key to economic growth in Westchester and Fairfield counties.”

Those invited to attend the Career Summit include diverse job seekers with a minimum of seven years work experience in all functional areas, minority business and professional organizations, and graduate business students from colleges and universities in the Westchester/Fairfield county area. There is no registration fee; however, a current resume is required. Candidates are encouraged to register by visiting www.nbmbaa-wgc.com, where they will also be able to apply online for job openings with the Summit’s corporate partners.
