It’s Ethics, Stupid! New Website Offers to Incite Thought as Well as Inspire

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jim Lichtman, author, speaker, and student of the role ethical values play in modern society, has announced a new website, ethicsStupid.com. Lichtman does not see a distinction between personal ethics and social ethics. “Ethics is ethics,” Lichtman says. “The situations may be different, but the principles remain the same.” Launched in early March, the site offers an engaging and thought-provoking look into how ethics affects the fabric of our society as well as our everyday lives.

“The situations may be different, but the principles remain the same.”

In a world that increasingly seems to treat ethical behavior as an option rather than a constant, the time is right for a website that would put the subject of ethics and ethical decision-making front and center once again. In his blog that will post at least three times a week, Lichtman invokes the spirit of British Author and American Patriot Thomas Paine, whose essays challenged British authority and inspired the American people, and legendary satirist Art Buchwald whose syndicated column skewered the high and mighty. “The goal,” Lichtman said, “is to be entertaining while challenging readers to live up to their highest aspirations. Ethics is the infrastructure for the way things should work. And how we utilize our principles in small ways, as well as those that challenge our convictions will determine the purpose and course of our lives.”

From sports and politics to entertainment and religion, integrity to compassion, no issue or avenue of modern day society with an ethical component will go unexamined on ethicsStupid.com. In shining a light on how ethics, or a lack thereof, determine the world we live in, Lichtman continues to invoke a dialog on a subject that has been his calling for nearly 15 years.

Jim Lichtman has been writing and speaking on ethics to corporations, associations, and schools since 1995. His Op-ed pieces have appeared in the Philadelphia Inquirer, New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Houston Chronicle, Minneapolis Star-Tribune, and New York Daily News. He is also the author of two books, The Lone Ranger’s Code of the West and What Do You Stand For?
