PASADENA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Entretech (www.entretech.org), the leading non-profit association supporting high tech companies in Greater Los Angeles with critical and practical business development resources and connections, announced nine finalists for its 5th Annual Entrepreneurship Awards 2008. Offered together with PricewaterhouseCoopers (www.pwc.com), the world's largest professional services organization, the awards celebrate the entrepreneurial vigor and business achievements of technology companies based in Los Angeles.
The Awards Program honors leading-edge companies in three categories based on annual revenue. The categories include: Startup – Under $1 million; Emerging – Between $1 million and $8 million; and Growth – Over $8 million.
The 2008 finalists in the “Startup” category include: Calando Pharmaceuticals, Inc., EdgeCast Networks, Inc. and the Rubicon Project. “Emerging” category finalists include: Central Desktop, Nami Media and Zag; and “Growth” category finalists include: eHarmony, Green Dot Corporation and Vantage Media, LLC. The finalists will be honored at Entretech’s “Hot Companies Breakfast” on January 31, at the Regency Club, Los Angeles, where they will have the opportunity to reveal their strategies and visions for building strong technology-based companies in Los Angeles. One winner from each category will be announced at the Entrepreneurship Awards dinner celebration March 6. Both events are open to the business community.
“The finalists exemplify successful young companies that have achieved significant product and market milestones as represented by either customer commitment or early revenues,” said Stephanie Yanchinski, Executive Director of Entretech. “They represent a group of emerging technology leaders.” She continued, “The award also acknowledges the growing importance of advanced tech within Los Angeles, and its contribution to the economic wealth of the overall region.”
Previous Entrepreneurship Awards winners include: LegalZoom (2007 - Growth category), Snap.com (2007- Emerging category), Prolacta Bioscience (2007- Startup category), NextAce Corporation (2006), Guidance Software (2004) and Evolution Robotics (2003), all of which have gone on to celebrate continued success, win esteemed industry awards and even accomplish a successful IPO (Guidance Software, 12/06).
