Animax Entertainment Nabs Second Emmy Nomination for ESPN Web Series

Studio’s Work for “Off Mikes” Was Recognized with First-Ever Broadband Emmy Award in 2006

CULVER CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--They’ve done it again. Animax Entertainment has been nominated for its second Emmy Award for its work on “Off-Mikes,” a weekly original animated series the studio produces for ESPN.com. Last year, Animax and ESPN won the first-ever broadband Emmy for its debut season of “Off-Mikes.”

“This year we are ecstatic to be honored once again with another nomination.”

Animax Entertainment was amongst the nominees for the 28th Annual Sports Emmy Awards announced last Thursday in New York by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Winners in 30 categories, including outstanding live sports special, sports documentary, studio show, play-by-play personality, and studio analyst will be honored. This year, three Emmy Awards will be presented for outstanding sports content delivered via broadband, which includes the Internet, cell phone, personal media players and other devices. These broadband Emmys will be awarded in the categories of event coverage, long-form and general interest. “Off Mikes” was nominated in the general interest category.

Last year’s Animax win was in the category of Outstanding Achievement in Content for Non-Traditional Delivery Platforms. NATAS’ Emmy categories for broadband content have been expanded and renamed this year.

“Off Mikes” is a weekly animated series based on the ESPN Radio show “Mike & Mike in the Morning,” featuring Mike Golic and Mike Greenberg. To create each episode Animax edits audio from the live radio program and then writes a fun, new take on the edited audio, exaggerating the dramatically different personalities of Golic and Greenberg while highlighting some of the funniest exchanges that have occurred. “We were happy to be nominated last year for an Emmy, and even happier when we won the first ever broadband Emmy Award,” said Michael Bellavia Managing Director of Animax Entertainment. “This year we are ecstatic to be honored once again with another nomination.”

In addition to ESPN, Animax produces original broadband animation for AOL, Disney and other leading entertainment companies.

The 28th Annual Sports Emmy Awards will be presented on Monday, April 30, 2007 at Rose Hall in Manhattan’s Time Warner Center.
