Intelligent Integration Systems, Inc. Leverages Netezza Data Warehouse Appliance to Serve the Democratic National Committee

Netezza Performance Server® (NPS®) System Delivers 20x Performance Increase and Helps the DNC Get Out The Vote

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--()--Netezza, the global data warehouse appliance market leader, today announced that Intelligent Integration Systems, Inc. (IISi), a Boston-based designer and developer of data center solutions that manage, analyze and clean large volumes of data, integrated a Netezza Performance Server data warehouse appliance into a national voter file system that was designed for the Democratic National Committee (DNC), and successfully implemented during the recent mid-term elections.

The overall DNC system, designed by IISi Co-founder Richard Zimmerman, integrates information for approximately 200 million voters from state parties across the country, and returns that data in an enhanced form to better target prospective voters. The DNC system is part of a line of IISi/Netezza TargetIntegrator offerings that enables applications in Internet clickstream and television content analysis, consumer affinities, political intelligence and genomics. The system also includes data quality tools from FirstLogic, Inc.; extract, transform and load tools from Sunopsis SA; and modeling tools from SPSS Inc.

We chose the Netezza system as the analytic engine for our solution because of its amazing performance and ease of integration, said Zimmerman. Using our solution, the DNC now has the most sophisticated back-end data warehouse in American politics for a fraction of the cost of alternative methods. We believe that weve only started to scratch the surface of what can be accomplished with these solutions.

"We had some significant problems in 2004 that required us to start rebuilding technologically from ground zero," said Ben Self, director of IT for the DNC. The Netezza appliance allows us to process 200 million files -- one for each voter -- and 900 fields for each file, 20 times faster than in the past.

Using the Netezza data warehouse appliance, the DNC was able to deliver a dramatic improvement in data quality and better assist persuasion and get-out-the-vote efforts that supported high voter turnout across the country.

Our growing customer list spans a diverse range of industries, including retail, telecommunications, financial services and the federal government, but they all have one thing in common the need to conduct deep, fast analysis on large and growing volumes of data, said Jit Saxena, CEO and co-founder, Netezza Corp. The performance and scalability of our system enables organizations like the DNC to quickly analyze information and perform very advanced analyses that produce targeted results.

The Netezza Performance Server system is the market-leading data warehouse appliance built specifically to analyze terabytes of detailed data 10 to 100 times faster than existing data warehouse options, at half the cost. The NPS system stores, filters and processes terabytes of records within a single unit, analyzing only the relevant information for each query. Netezza has placed the CPU power next to the data, allowing the NPS system to speed through processes that would occupy most data warehouse systems for hours, or even days, thereby enabling dramatic increases in productivity across the organization. Customers who have recognized the benefits of Netezzas approach include Ahold, Amazon.com, Cingular Wireless, CNET Networks, Debenhams, Epsilon, Orange UK, Premier, Inc., Ryder System, Inc., Shoppers Drug Mart Corporation, The Carphone Warehouse and The TJX Companies.
