Verso Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: VRSO), a leading provider of packet-based solutions, today announced the launch of its new NetSpective(R) 2.0 application filter, which introduces a bandwidth optimization and robust content management tool specifically targeting the enterprise market.

Using the same technology as the carrier grade Skype filtering technology as announced on September 14, our new NetSpective 2.0 blocks applications such as Skype, Peer-2-Peer (P2P) messaging, streaming media and instant messaging that increasingly cause congestion on internal networks and degrade service for other critical applications. Version 2.0 provides the most comprehensive array of network optimization and content management options currently available for enterprises seeking to selectively disable undesirable network traffic, improve service levels on their networks, and monitor network usage. It provides network administrators with control over the type and volume of content resulting in improved quality of service. It also offers enterprise organizations a practical way to monitor and regulate this type of traffic on their networks.

NetSpective 2.0 blocks unregulated traffic that could potentially result in violations of federal communications regulations, or illegal copyright violations through accessing of protected materials, thereby resulting in reduced potential liability for enterprises. Additionally, the application specifically targets and blocks Skype software, which enables users to utilize the Internet to place undetectable and un-monitored voice calls to another end-user running a Skype application, leaving enterprise organizations open to a variety of liabilities and potential virus infections.
