Hutch Parker Promoted to President of 20th Century Fox; New Deal Comes on Heels of TCF's Record-Breaking Year

LOS ANGELES--()--Jan. 11, 2005--Hutch Parker has been promoted to President of Twentieth Century Fox and signed a new long-term deal with the studio, it was announced today by Fox Filmed Entertainment Chairmen Jim Gianopulos and Tom Rothman.

With the promotion, Twentieth Century Fox will restructure to now bring all its moviemaking functions under Parker's umbrella, effectively centralizing the position for the first time in decades. He will now oversee the physical production, post production, visual effects and music departments for TCF films. TCF's production, casting and story departments continue to report to him.

Parker's promotion comes on the heels of Fox's record-breaking year, which saw the division achieve a first for any studio, tallying five consecutive pictures -- "THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW," "DODGEBALL: A TRUE UNDERDOG STORY," "GARFIELD," "I ROBOT" and "ALIEN VS. PREDATOR" -- that grossed over $20 million each during their opening weekends. Three of these pictures also grossed over $200 million worldwide box office and total receipts from TCF films exceeded $1 billion in worldwide box office in 2004.

Commented Tom Rothman and Jim Gianopulos: "This is a great day for Fox. Hutch is at the absolute top of his game, with an unrivaled success record, experience and expertise. With his new promotion and greater responsibilities, the company is assured of continuing the best, most stable, senior management in the film business."

Commented Hutch Parker: "I've been fortunate over the last 10 years to work with a fantastic group of filmmakers and executives at the most boldly dynamic media company in the world. Tom and Jim have led the film company to unprecedented success. I'm proud of what we've achieved, deeply grateful to my superb staff, and happy to call Fox my home. I'm extremely excited for the opportunity to play a more significant role in the future of 20th Century Fox."

TCF has enjoyed unprecedented success over the past five years under Parker, with pictures such as "X2," "CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN," and the critically-hailed, Oscar(R)-winning "MASTER AND COMMANDER: THE FAR SIDE OF THE WORLD."

Upcoming releases include "ELEKTRA," a co-production with Regency starring Jennifer Garner; "HIDE AND SEEK," a suspense-thriller starring Robert De Niro and Dakota Fanning; "KINGDOM OF HEAVEN," helmed by the master of the modern epic, Ridley Scott; and "FANTASTIC FOUR," the next big event picture based on a Marvel property.

Parker joined Fox in 1995 as Senior Vice President, Production. He was named President of Production in 1999.
