Laura Unger Steps Down From Borland Board of Directors

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 20, 2004--Borland Software Corporation (Nasdaq:BORL) announced that Laura S. Unger has resigned from the Company's Board of Directors, effective today. Ms. Unger joined Borland's Board in April 2002.

Ms. Unger stated: "It has been a privilege and a pleasure to serve as a director of Borland these past few years. I have enjoyed my time with Borland and wish the company continued success in the future."

Borland's Board of Directors now consists of seven members, six of whom are independent directors.
