| Switch To SAVVIS Gives Wire & Cable Distributor Increased Productivity, Reduced Monthly Costs And Less End-user Frustration |
“We are pleased that IEWC's implementation went smoothly”
SAVVIS Communications (NASDAQ:SVVS), a leading global IT Utility, today announced that Industrial Electric Wire & Cable (IEWC), a full-line stocking distributor of electrical and electronic wire and cable products, has chosen SAVVIS' managed network services to link its facilities nationwide.
With stocking facilities in Wisconsin, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas and Arizona, IEWC required a high-performance network that could be implemented quickly to reduce the impact on its employees and customers.
"In one month, SAVVIS' network performance improvements have enabled us to recoup the cost of installation while our ongoing monthly costs have been reduced by more than 30 percent," said Tom Phelps, network manager at IEWC. "In over ten years of implementing wide area network links over various technologies, I've never seen an implementation go so well and so quickly."
"We are pleased that IEWC's implementation went smoothly," said Jack Finlayson, president and chief operating officer of SAVVIS. "Our ability to deliver superior performance at a low cost and with easy implementation is a result of our highly automated software management and provisioning systems that provide customers with a simple, yet comprehensive end-to-end view of their IT infrastructure. This visibility enables us to reduce customer dependence on redundant hardware while being much more responsive to their needs," he added.
Early this year, SAVVIS acquired the assets of Cable & Wireless USA, Inc. which added a tier-1 IP network, more than 3,000 enterprise customers, and a complete range of managed hosting, consulting and infrastructure services including 15 world class data centers. Now three months into integrating these complementary assets, SAVVIS is focused on delivering a wide range of managed utility services that enable enterprises of all types -- including those in the manufacturing sector -- to reach end users seamlessly and efficiently, while reducing overall operational costs.
