McAfee Marks May 16th as Its Annual Global Community Service Day

Thousands of McAfee Employees around the Globe Join Forces to Support their Local Communities

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--McAfee today announced that May 16th will be its second annual Global Community Service Day. McAfee launched its Global Community Service Day last year in honor of the company’s 25th anniversary, attracting approximately 50 percent of McAfee’s global workforce and helping thousands of people in need around the world. This year, McAfee plans to continue the effort of helping hundreds of nonprofits—with part of this effort including teaching cyber education in schools and youth organizations around the world.

“We have selected May 16 for McAfee employees around the globe to teach kids about cybersafety, feed the hungry and homeless, clean up beaches and parks, assist the elderly, take care of animals at rescue shelters and many other ways that support our local communities and help those in need.”

“At the core of McAfee stands our indelible commitment to safety and security—our relentless search for safe—that makes us want to do even more in our communities,” said Mike DeCesare, co-president, McAfee. “We have selected May 16 for McAfee employees around the globe to teach kids about cybersafety, feed the hungry and homeless, clean up beaches and parks, assist the elderly, take care of animals at rescue shelters and many other ways that support our local communities and help those in need.

McAfee Cares - Online Safety for Kids is an award-winning school initiative that employs volunteers to help train school-age children and parents on ways to stay safe and secure, as well as maintain good ethics in their online behavior. The program has been recognized by Computerworld as a 2013 Computerworld Honors Laureate for its visionary application of information technology to promote positive social, economic and educational change.

Each Online Safety for Kids session provides students or parents with content and materials based on the STOP.THINK.CONNECT™ national cybersecurity awareness campaign. This campaign was developed by the STOP. THINK. CONNECT. Messaging Convention, a public-private partnership established and led by The Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG) and National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA), of which McAfee is a founding member.
