AM Best to Host Briefing on Negative Pressures on U.S Health Insurance Segment and Whether an Inflection Point has Arrived

OLDWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AM Best to host a briefing that will look at the U.S. health insurance segment’s response to negative market pressures from higher utilization, medical and pharmacy costs, increased morbidity and regulatory challenges on April 7, 2026, at 2 p.m. EDT.

After several years of strong earnings and steady enrollment growth, operating trends turned unfavorable in late 2024 and continued through 2025. Initiatives taken by insurers to improve operating performance will drive improvement, but top line and enrollment will suffer. AM Best placed a negative outlook on the health insurance segment in August 2025.

AM Best’s health analytical team will discuss how these factors may affect the industry and ratings, as well as how the industry is responding. Panelists include AM Best Senior Director Sally Rosen and Director Bridget Maehr; AM Best Senior Associate Editor John Weber will moderate.
