Emmanuelle Toussaint Named Executive Director of BIOQuébec

BROMONT, Quebec--()--BIOQuébec’s Board of Directors is proud to announce the appointment of Emmanuelle Toussaint as Executive Director, effective immediately.

“We are very pleased to have Emmanuelle join us as Executive Director. She is tremendously influential in the business community, and her diverse professional experiences, paired with her leadership, energy, and passion, will be greatly appreciated by BIOQuébec and our partners,” indicated Frédéric Leduc, President of the Board. “BIOQuébec has been supporting its members for over thirty years, and I firmly believe that Emmanuelle will take BIOQuébec to new heights.”

Ms. Toussaint has over twenty-five years of management experience in both the private and public sectors. For many years, she held the position of Vice President, Legal, Regulatory & Public Affairs at Nova Bus and Prevost, which are part of the Volvo Group. She has also worked for various organizations in the manufacturing, medical, biotechnology, aerospace, municipal, and academic sectors.

A member of both the Barreau du Québec (the Quebec bar association) and the Ordre des administrateurs agréés du Québec (Quebec’s order of certified administrative professionals), Ms. Toussaint holds a bachelor’s degree in law and a certificate in administration from the Université Laval. A Chartered Administrator, she is also very involved in several business organizations and associations and a member of the board of directors and the executive committee of the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec (Quebec’s federation of chambers of commerce).

Emmanuelle Toussaint was named one of Canada’s 100 Most Powerful Women in 2021 by the Women’s Executive Network. She is also one of the recipients of Canada’s 2022 Clean50 Awards, which are presented by the Delta Management Group and recognize the 50 individuals who have contributed the most to the cause of sustainable development and clean capitalism in Canada over the past two years.

“I feel fortunate to be joining BIOQuébec, a Quebec association recognized as a true leader in its field, and I thank the members of the Board of Directors for their trust. This is a homecoming for me since I began my career in the biotechnology and life sciences sector. Quebec has a rich life sciences ecosystem, and the pandemic served to highlight the importance of having a strong value chain in this vital sector. I am thrilled to be involved in tackling this industry’s pivotal issues and to collaborate with all of BIOQuébec’s members and partners,” stated Emmanuelle Toussaint.

With Ms. Toussaint at its helm, BIOQuébec will continue to represent and support its members, namely biotechnology and life sciences companies, by speaking with government representatives on their behalf, fostering business development, and being a credible source of information for the community. BIOQuébec will address important issues in the coming months, such as the integration of innovations in the health system, access to data to facilitate medical research, the Patented Medicine Prices Review Board reforms, and the development of a coherent and concerted Canadian innovation strategy.
