Byte Proud to Recognize TODEC Legal Center’s Community Efforts, Starts 2022 With $5,000 Donation

COACHELLA, Calif.--()--Byte, a rapidly growing clear aligner company, announced it donated $5,000 to the Inland Empire’s TODEC Legal Center to support its youth leadership program, Monarcas Luchadoras. Monarcas Luchadoras empowers youth to use their voices for change and support their local community. These young leaders have been leading community pandemic response efforts in the Eastern Coachella Valley and have played an instrumental role in helping to vaccinate farmworkers and their families.

Byte donated the $5,000 to TODEC through its philanthropic arm, ByteCares. “Part of the mission of ByteCares is to help underserved communities in California and beyond,” said Byte CEO Neeraj Gunsagar. “We are proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia and State Senator Richard Roth in support of TODEC’s youth leadership program.”

“I am heartened by Byte’s generosity and the active role they have taken to support local nonprofits providing essential services throughout our state," shared Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia. "TODEC’s Monarcas Luchadoras youth program was among the first on the scene to mobilize pandemic response efforts in our rural Eastern Coachella Valley community. These young leaders were on the front lines assisting with outreach and translation services which were instrumental in providing COVID-19 testing and vaccination resources to farmworkers. Byte’s donation shines a well-deserved spotlight on the achievements of these local youth and will help ensure the program continues to thrive.”

Luz Gallegos, executive director of TODEC Legal Services, said, "We are proud of TODEC youth organizers' community commitment and leadership as they have not stopped working throughout the pandemic risking their life to improve the lives of the communities where they live. We are grateful to Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia and Byte for recognizing their leadership.”

Alma Benito, TODEC Coachella Valley Youth Organizer, said, "In the name of TODEC's Monarcas Luchadoras we are grateful for the recognition. We do what we do from our heart and because it is the right thing to do, not expecting anything in return; it feels nice to be recognized by partners.”

Byte has a strong history of philanthropic efforts in California’s communities and across the nation. In 2021, Byte pledged to donate at least 25,000 oral care kits to Afghan refugees being resettled in California. The oral health kits consist of a toothbrush, toothbrush cover, toothpaste, floss, and a travel pouch.

In early 2020, ByteCares responded to the nation’s personal protective equipment shortage by quickly diverting its manufacturing resources to make reusable face shields and ventilator parts and donating face masks that were shipped to first responders and medical facilities across the country.
