Potentia Wealth Launches to Fee-Only, Fiduciary Advisory Model

Firm’s new structure underscores holistic focus and fiduciary service model

SAN JOSE, Calif.--()--Potentia Wealth, one of the Bay Area’s most compelling wealth and tax advisory firms, has announced that it will shift to a purely fee-based, fiduciary service model. This change institutionalizes what the firm has always done – put clients first in every decision, recommending only what works best for their financial life goals. Potentia has grown to more than $420M in assets under management, having had five acquisitions since 2014, and now serves more than 300 client families nationwide.

The shift in legal structure is the latest in several moves to prepare the firm to meet future demand for independent, fee-only advice from client families. Potentia has carved out a tailored client experience specifically created for affluent individuals and families who want holistic, deep service across the whole footprint of their financial lives.

“We’re seeing a significant shift in the wealth management landscape. People are seeking independent, fee-only, fiduciary advice as an alternative to traditional banks and brokerage firms that have conflicts of interest and sales-based compensation models,” says Kevin Swanson, CEO of Potentia. “We believe that clients are best served in a fee-only relationship. This model institutionalizes what we’ve always done since the founding of Potentia: put our clients first, no matter what. The independent, fee-only model removes potential conflicts of interest that are inherent with brokerage firms and banks.”

This is part of a national trend in the wealth management industry: advisors moving to fee-only, registered independent advisor firms.

The change is effective January 2022.
