NAPERVILLE, Ill.--()--According to PwC’s The Future of Work – a Journey to 2022 report, “Disruptive innovations are creating new industries and business models and destroying old ones. New technologies, data analytics and social networks are having a huge impact on how people communicate, collaborate and work. As generations collide, workforces become more diverse and people work longer; traditional career models may soon be a thing of the past. Many of the roles and job titles of tomorrow will be ones we’ve not even thought of yet1.”

DeVry University president and CEO, Tom Monahan agrees, “With the rapid pace of technological change, at least 85 percent of the jobs that will exist in 2030 don’t exist today2. As educators, we must help prepare learners for a workforce that is shaped by technology. And as a society, we have to ensure that the opportunities created by the digital revolution lift all Americans by providing access and support for ‘new traditional’ learners.”

As such, DeVry University has appointed two technology leaders to join its Board of Trustees to help govern DeVry as an education leader and innovator in closing society’s opportunity gap:

  • Krisztina “Z” Holly, Venture Partner at Good Growth Capital and former Vice Provost for Innovation at the University of Southern California. Holly is an MIT-trained engineer and serial founder; she is recognized for curating and hosting the first-ever TEDx and pioneering innovation centers at MIT and USC. Currently, she scouts, advises, and invests in innovators at the frontier.
  • Raquel Tamez, Chief Inclusion and Engagement Officer (CIEO) at Charles River Associates. Tamez previously served as CEO of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, a national organization focused on empowering the Hispanic community to achieve its full potential in STEM. Hired as the company’s first-ever CIEO in May 2021, Tamez is developing programs and initiatives aimed at diversifying CRA’s workforce and strengthening its culture. Be it in STEM, economics or access to higher education, Tamez tirelessly advocates for diversity, equity and inclusion on our campuses and in our workplaces.

“We have a dire need for a more skilled and diverse workforce today. But traditional universities are no longer capable of fully addressing our talent shortage in our rapidly changing technology landscape,” says Holly, who spent more than a decade at two of the world’s top academic institutions. “I’m excited to help reimagine a more equitable and accessible model for higher education.”

“As we have watched the world change in a few short years, the education landscape has been altered too,” added Tamez. “With its ability to seamlessly transition to remote learning during the pandemic, DeVry provided education and training, not only to its students, but to the communities and corporate partners they serve. I look forward to helping DeVry be a key force in connecting diverse, adult learners to career paths that will help drive our economy forward.”

Other members of DeVry University’s Board of Trustees, include:

Each member serves a two-year term and, collectively, has the responsibility for approving the university’s mission, policies, strategic plan, annual operating plan and all matters related to governance of DeVry.

“The addition of Z and Raquel to our Board of Trustees will further elevate the innovative capabilities, technological leadership and diversity of our Board team,” said Michael Peel, DeVry University Board Chair. “We are fortunate to have their unique perspectives as DeVry continues to reimagine and transform how we prepare learners for career success in a world shaped by unprecedented technological change.”
