Texas Original Compassionate Cultivation Launches Texas-Inspired Agave Lime Lozenges

Following the release of Texas’ first 0:1 THC-only tincture, TOCC's patient- and doctor-driven lozenges offer balanced treatment to qualifying patients statewide

AUSTIN, Texas--()--Texas Original Compassionate Cultivation (TOCC), Texas’ leading medical cannabis provider, announced today the expansion of its product line to include Texas-inspired agave lime-flavored lozenges. Easy-to-consume and of various strengths, the lozenges provide dosages on par with other TOCC products, reduce a patient’s carrying oil intake and mitigate dexterity challenges caused by traditional droppers.

TOCC’s lozenges address current limitations of the Texas Compassionate Use Program (CUP). The CUP caps a product’s legal THC limit at .5% by weight, but does not restrict the amount an individual can consume. Patients prescribed high doses of THC must ingest more tincture to reach the correct dose, but struggle with gastrointestinal issues from the excess carrying oil. TOCC’s new agave lime lozenges offer an alternative to tinctures. Patients can seek refuge with lozenges, an easy-to-digest option for higher-THC dosages that delivers the same amount of active pharmaceutical ingredient.

“With the largest patient base in the state, we are privileged to learn from our patients every day how to best serve them with life-changing medical cannabis products,” said Morris Denton, TOCC’s CEO. “In collaboration with our Medical Advisory Board, our network of physicians and our thousands of patients, our team introduced our first lozenges in 2020 and successfully combated the unfortunate side effects caused by the current CUP. Patients—and their doctors—are realizing the benefits of high-THC dosages and deserve easy-to-consume products that reduce pain, curb anxiety and treat other critical symptoms under Texas’ restrictive THC limitations. Our newest flavor is inspired by the very Texans we serve. We hope our patients taste a little bit of Texas in every lozenge as they experience relief through the power of medical cannabis.”

TOCC conducted a research trial in August 2020 with dozens of patients to evaluate the efficacy and accessibility of the company’s inaugural lozenge formulation. Since the launch of the company’s first lozenges, the team has continued to garner feedback from patients with a variety of conditions including autism, Huntington’s Disease, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease, spinal spasticity and epilepsy. TOCC also leverages the expertise of its Medical Advisory Board to inform its growing product portfolio, including the agave lime lozenges.

TOCC’s agave lime lozenges will join the recently released 0:1 tincture in the company’s diverse, high-quality medical cannabis product line and follows the passage of House Bill 1535, which increased the permitted amount of THC in medical cannabis products to 1 percent by weight, effective Sept. 1, 2021.

TOCC products are available for statewide delivery at www.texasoriginal.com, at their dispensary in Austin, Texas, and through the company’s temporary dispensary sites in Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.
