SAN CLEMENTE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--C2 Collaborative, an internationally acclaimed landscape architecture design firm based in Orange County, Calif., proudly announces its recent wins at the 2021 Gold Nugget Awards – an annual awards program recognizing those who improve communities through exceptional concepts in design, planning and development. In competition with entrants from around the globe, C2 Collaborative was recognized for its architectural design and planning excellence, taking home the Grand Award across five leading categories and the Award of Merit in two others during the June 16, 2021 virtual award program. The honors recognized C2’s role in developing Miralon Palm Springs, a project that transformed a failed golf course into a thriving agrihood community.
The annual Gold Nugget Awards (GNA), now in its 58th year, is the largest and most prestigious competition of its kind. Drawing nearly 600 entries worldwide, GNA honors architectural design and planning excellence in community and home design, green-built housing, site planning, commercial, retail, mixed-use development and specialty housing categories.
“C2 Collaborative focuses on reinvigorating communities by integrating recreation, lifestyle, health, wellness and sustainability through innovative landscape design solutions,” said Paul Haden, president at C2 Collaborative. “Miralon encapsulates all of these elements, and even offers a working olive tree farm that is not only beautiful and sustainable, but will become a source of income for a prosperous future. Being awarded five Grand Awards by the GNA really shines a light on the beauty and value Miralon is designed to bring to the greater community.”
Miralon Palm Springs is a 309-acre modern agrihood offering 1,150 residences amid working olive and citrus groves, community gardens and walking trails. Built atop of a never played-on abandoned 18-hole golf course, the community emphasizes resort-style living alongside sustainable open space. The project received the Grand Award in five separate categories, including Best Landscape Architecture for a Community; Master Planned Community of the Year; Best Community Land Plan; Best Community Pivot; and Residential Detached Collection of the Year. It also received the Award of Merit in Best Community Amenity and Best Single Family Detached Home.
“We were not only tasked with transforming a neglected golf course, but we needed to refashion it into a flourishing and amenity-rich community that could give back to the people living among it,” added Jack Haden, principal at C2 Collaborative. “Miralon brought our innovative vision for reimagining this run-down area of the Coachella Valley to life – creating an exquisite environment where the community can flourish.”
Miralon will open this summer 2021, with the club, fitness center, yoga studio, hub, café, pools and dog parks complete.
