LOS ANGELES--()--HigherGround, a developer of solution-based software that captures, stores, and retrieves telecommunications, location, and radio data, announced its Live911 technology has reduced response times and saved at least five lives since initial deployments at Police Departments and Sheriff’s Offices across the U.S. in the past five months.

Live911 is a first-ever solution to securely livestream 911 emergency calls directly to authorized officers in the field and provide precise GPS map location of the caller. The technology gives a “head start” for officers monitoring incoming 911 calls within their particular area by eliminating standard delays from dispatching.

The vision for closing the gap between police dispatcher to first responders came from retired Chula Vista Police Captain Fritz Reber. “In police response, minutes or even seconds matter. Live911 is proving to be a game changer in providing officers with more information to respond quicker and improve situational awareness,” said Reber. “I can’t recall any recent technology advancement that has literally saved lives and made such a positive impact in such a short amount of time.”

Live 911 was created by HigherGround and began Beta testing in mid-2021 by the Chula Vista Police Department (CVPD), followed by the Clovis Police Department (Clovis PD) and Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO). The technology has contributed to the following success stories:

"In the first 30 days we saved 3 lives. We saved a child that was choking because we got there before fire or EMS. We also saved two people with our AED that were having cardiac arrests," said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. "Live911 is a remarkable tool that helps us to arrive at emergencies quicker. It’s a game changer.”

“One example of how livestreaming 9-1-1 calls have changed officer response was during a recent call to report a drowning,” said Carla Evan, CVPD Communications Manager. “The caller was understandably hysterical and could not provide an address. Officers heard the 911 call and could see precisely where the caller was located and responded immediately, before the call was even dispatched. They saved that child’s life.”

“Live911 played an integral part in a hot prowl burglary arrest. Officers were able to hear the emergency call as they were responding and knew it was the real deal,” said Lt. Jim Munro at Clovis PD, “When they arrived, they found the suspect on the side of the home attempting to pry a door open using a 10-inch hunting knife.”

“I was working patrol and monitoring Live911 when I heard a citizen calling 911 to report a male was unconscious and not breathing,” said CVPD Officer Brian Olson. “I could also see the location of the caller and was probably a block away from the scene. I notified dispatch, went directly to the suspect. I recognized the suspect had overdosed and deployed a single dose of NARCAN and began CPR. I was able to get a pulse and shallow breathing. Fire and Medics showed up a few minutes later and he was transported to hospital and expected to live.”

“It had been 10 years since we met our priority one response time goals,” said CVPD Chief Roxana Kennedy. “Live911 allows our officer to set a geofence in their particular beat and listen to incoming 911 calls and get there a lot quicker.”

“I heard the call of an 8-year-old reporting a domestic disturbance in progress. His father was beating his mother in front of him,” said Officer Marcus Burks at Clovis PD. “I was able to get on the scene before being dispatched. The victim told me she believed he would have killed her if we would not have shown up so quickly and arrested the suspect. Long story short, Live911 greatly reduced response time and I strongly believe it saved her life or at least prevented more injury.”

Beta testing is complete and Live911 is generally available for purchase, training and deployment at law enforcement agencies. For more information, view video. To schedule a demo, visit www.live911.com
