CODE Credit Union Goes Live with Member Driven Technologies

Credit union completes seamless virtual core conversion to MDT, expects to boost efficiencies, enhance member service

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich.--()--CODE Credit Union has successfully implemented the Episys® core processing system hosted by Member Driven Technologies (MDT), a CUSO that provides a private cloud alternative for core processing and IT needs. MDT hosts Episys from Symitar®, an industry-leading provider of technology solutions for credit unions of all sizes, as well as multiple complementary solutions.

Dayton, Ohio-based CODE CU has been serving the Miami Valley community for more than 80 years. The credit union recognized the need for a more flexible, automated core system to enhance member service and prepare for future growth. After a thorough search process, the credit union ultimately selected MDT for its robust functionality and ability to facilitate a better member experience. Scott Rutherford, CEO of CODE CU, explained, “MDT has a strong reputation and proven track record of success, which is why we selected the CUSO as our core provider and strategic business partner. MDT enables easy and open integration with any technology provider of our choosing, and we believe that this agility positions us competitively for the future.”

CODE CU’s conversion was executed virtually from start to finish because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the challenges associated with a socially distanced project, the credit union team, MDT and Symitar worked together to complete a smooth, successful migration that met all timelines.

“Core conversions are never simple, but this particular project seemed especially daunting given the need to maintain physical separation,” said Rutherford. “MDT and Symitar stepped up to the plate, going the extra mile to ensure our team had all of the training necessary to be confident with our new core. Their patience and flexibility, along with deep technical expertise, helped us complete this project without a hitch. Looking forward, we expect MDT’s integrated, automated technology to allow our employees to spend less time on tedious manual processes and more time on what matters most – strengthening member relationships.”

CODE CU also implemented a new digital banking platform and online account opening capabilities as part of its conversion. This technology seamlessly integrates into the new core, saving time and creating operational efficiencies across several areas of the credit union.

“Leading institutions like CODE CU recognize the importance of investing in modern technology to increase efficiencies and improve the member experience, regardless of external circumstances,” said Larry Nichols, CEO and president of MDT. “The CODE CU and MDT teams fully embraced a virtual core conversion, participating in socially distanced trainings and meetings to make the process a success. We are proud to partner with CODE CU, as our technology helps them streamline processes, save time and improve the member experience.”
