IRVING, Texas--()--During a time when many American companies are shrinking or shuttering, tech-service company Falcon Events (3001 Gateway Drive, Suite 130, Irving, TX), a complete solution for event streaming, has been expanding, hiring out-of-work professionals into a futuristic industry. Launched in December 2019, Falcon has been catapulted to the forefront of the virtual event marketplace and hiring underemployed talent from across the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Right Place, Right Time, Right Technology - All During the Pandemic

The event production industry has been hit especially hard by the COVID-19 pandemic; yet the demand for virtual events has skyrocketed, creating unique opportunities for Falcon and its now-more than 80 employees. “When we started Falcon Events in late 2019, it was just me and my business partner, Joshua Butler,” explains Bill Mott, Founder and CEO. “Together, we had 25+ years of experience in the industry, but as demand took off, so did our need for production resources and qualified staff.”

When the company launched in December 2019, there were merely 20 events projected for the whole of 2020. By mid-March, all of these events had been canceled, while companies scrambled to safely address concerns about the pandemic. Falcon persisted, adding two of the first film festivals to move to a virtual format, Thin Line Film Festival and Dallas VideoFest’s AltFiction, to their schedule. As entire industries pivoted to virtual and hybrid events, Falcon found itself in high demand and will end 2020 having completed more than 175 successful events.

Falcon Events’ Nest Multiplies

Today, Falcon has outgrown their original office, upgrading to two buildings in Las Colinas totaling 10,000 square feet, affectionately referred to as “The Nest,” with an additional 4,000 square-foot expansion already planned for early 2021. Using hundreds of computers, and thousands of feet of cabling, The Nest has streamed over 50,000 hours of content this year to millions of viewers. Innovative data and power networks allow for the production of 45 concurrently run virtual “stages,” with plans to increase capacity to 75 stages after the expansion. All production resources are in use most days, spread across dozens of events of various sizes.

Finding a Place to Land - Gratitude for New Opportunities

Kendall McCrae found Falcon as a furloughed flight attendant from American Airlines. Her extensive customer-service skills derived from the travel industry were a perfect match for Falcon’s Talent Support Team, which assists high-profile conference speakers in presenting to online audiences. McCrae states, “Falcon took me under their wing when I was so worried about being one of thousands on the hunt for a new job.”

“I am so grateful to work for a company that is expanding so quickly but still maintains a personal touch with each of their employees,” McCrae concludes.

Russell Turns was the full-time sound engineer at well-known Dallas venues, Live Nation’s House of Blues and The Bomb Factory, and he was furloughed due to the pandemic. But now, a new career in virtual event production has helped him not only survive—but thrive. “An entertainment industry that I thought was guaranteed to always be around, be recession-proof, petrified in 72 hours due to COVID. I'm very happy to use my skills in a newer field,” says Turns.
