BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Adding another option for care for the growing population of individuals on the Eastside with memory impairments, Silverado has announced a new memory care community in Bellevue. The Silverado Bellevue Memory Care Community, projected to open in December, will be the second Washington location to offer Silverado’s brand of compassionate, innovative care.
Joining Silverado’s other Washington community, located in Bellingham 90 miles to the north, the Bellevue community will offer all of the features that have earned Silverado its reputation as a leader in caring for individuals with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia. The purpose-built community has been designed to meet the unique needs of individuals living with dementia and provide an experience that is both comfortable and supports their added clinical needs.
Silverado’s culture is built upon our clinical expertise and innovative spirit, which allowed us to respond early and rapidly to the challenges posed by COVID-19. Throughout this pandemic, we have taken proactive steps to protect our residents, patients, families and associates. These safeguards, based on our understanding and insight acquired since the outbreak of the virus, are incorporated into both the physical makeup of the community as well as the daily care model and engagement programming our residents will experience. In addition, the building systems accommodate improved airflow among other features that will serve to reduce the risk of transmission of the virus.
A key aspect of daily care will be the Nexus at Silverado® early-stage brain health program. The company developed the specialized initiative based on studies showing purposeful programming may slow progression and improve quality of life for those in the early phase of a memory-impairing disease.
“Having grown up on the Eastside, our expansion into Bellevue is very special to me,” comments Loren Shook, Silverado’s founder, president and CEO. “Our Bellingham community has operated at near full capacity since soon after it opened in 2016, and families have made many requests that we open a location farther south,” he added. “We’re overjoyed to be able to provide our style of care to residents in Bellevue and its surrounding communities.”
Located at 4428 NE 8th Street, the community is located between Lake Washington and Lake Sammamish, and just three miles from Microsoft’s corporate headquarters in Redmond. The community is over 28,000 square feet and has been designed to support 56 residents.
To lead the new community, Silverado has chosen Lori Pettit, who brings extensive senior living leadership experience in the region as an Executive Director and Administrator. “Being a part of the Silverado family and what they represent has been a dream of mine for over 10 years, since I took a life-changing tour of a Silverado community,” she shared, adding “I saw that this was how memory care should be - compassion, caring and connecting in so many ways.”
“Silverado is well known in the industry for its groundbreaking approach to care, and the chance to lead a new community from the beginning was such an opportunity,” she commented. “From my time in the US Navy serving as a Corpsman and all throughout my career, my focus has been on the wellbeing of those under my care,” she remarked, adding “Silverado’s commitment to their residents and families matches this perfectly.”
