BREA, Calif.--()--ViewSonic Corp., a leading global provider of display solution products, in partnership with United Way, has donated 300 Raspberry Pi Thin Client devices to the Los Angeles County Alliance for Boys and Girls Clubs under the Empowering Future Generations initiative. The Empowering Future Generations initiative is designed to identify and support schools and organizations in need of technology resources for programs such as STEM and STEAM labs, SCALE-UP classrooms, robotics workshops and esports clubs.

“We are very proud of ViewSonic’s position as a global leader providing technology solutions that support collaboration, communication and creativity,” said Jeff Volpe, president of ViewSonic Americas. “With continued distance learning while Los Angeles County schools remain closed, we felt this was the perfect technology to allow students to build, create, and collaborate while sheltering in place. This technology allows students hands-on learning and a creative outlet as they virtually work on STEM and robotic projects with their peers.”

ViewSonic worked closely with United Way of Greater Los Angeles Senior Manager of Corporate Relations, Michelle Reed, who facilitated the donation. “We cannot thank ViewSonic enough for their generous donation of Raspberry Pi Thin Clients for our youth which will help foster curiosity and creativity. During these challenging times, it is important to keep young people occupied and entertained while learning at home. If they are in a Club, Raspberry Pi offers them opportunities to work with other Club members on fun STEM-related projects including coding and robotics,” said Mary Hewitt, executive director, Los Angeles County Alliance for Boys and Girls Clubs.

Under the Empowering Future Generations banner, ViewSonic is focused on furthering the advancement of learning at all levels by providing professional expertise and innovative technologies in partnership with organizations that support students. With the abrupt shift to online teaching and the uncertainty surrounding going back to school safely, ViewSonic understands that working in education can be challenging right now. As such, the company developed myViewBoard Classroom to assist teachers, schools and districts with hybrid teaching and learning to make the transition as seamless as possible for both teachers and students. ViewSonic strives to produce a successful hybrid learning environment that teachers can then integrate into the creation of engaging lessons for their students in a digital space.
