Chicago Scenic Studios Adds to Executive Team with Appointment of Industry Veteran Richard Mahaney as VP of Production & Design

CHICAGO--()--The longstanding scenic fabrication company renowned for creating highly engaging, unique, and crowd-pleasing experiences – Chicago Scenic Studios – has named Richard Mahaney as vice president of production and design.

Mahaney joins Chicago Scenic with more than 30-years of experience in scenery design, management and construction. He is the former director of production for Adirondack Studios, where he led development and fabrication for theme parks, theatrical events, public art, casinos, restaurants, grocery store chains and other retail companies.

Additionally, Mahaney’s experience includes project installations for Universal Studios in Hollywood, Orlando, and Japan; Disneyland and Disney World – including Epcot and Seaworld.

“Richard brings an amazing array of management, technical skills, and deep project experience across a broad range of industries and clients,” said Blasko Ristic, president of Chicago Scenic. “We are thrilled to have him aboard – his keen insights and project depth have made significant contributions from day one – on current projects and with prospective clients,” Ristic added.

In addition to his wide experience at Adirondack Studios, Mahaney was the art director of Resorts World Sentosa where he managed design, fabrication, and installation of displays, interiors and props for Universal Studios Singapore.

“Among other things, Richard’s experience allows for a deep collaboration between our technical design and production teams – with a specific focus on quality, meeting demanding build schedule requirements, cost containment, and more,” said Blasko Ristic. “He joins a seasoned group and deepens our bench strength for problem solving and excellent client service,” he added.

Mahaney’s career experience has taken him around the word – but his new role at Chicago Scenic is something of a homecoming. “I went to graduate school for theater design and technology at the University of Illinois – and I started my career building props at Chicago’s famous Goodman Theater,” he said. “I’m excited to be back and especially to join the team at Chicago Scenic – one of the great scenic fabrication shops in the world. We have excellent people. We do amazing work – and for the best clients. There’s no better combo,” he said.

Chicago Scenic has more than 40 years of experience in fabrication and installation across a broad range of corporate events, museums, sports facilities, theme parks, trade shows, stage sets, and more. More information about Chicago Scenic is at: www.chicagoscenic.com.
