CHICAGO--()--ECEDHA, (the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department Heads Association) announced today plans to hold its first ECE Lab Pros Network Summit, a virtual conference for the professionals who manage electrical and computer engineering labs at leading universities across the United States and Canada.

The ECE Lab Pros Summit takes place December 1-2, 2020, consisting of two half-day programs covering ECE Labs, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics and Makers topics. The timely importance of the Summit addresses, among other topics, online engagement of ECE Labs with a deep dive into experiences before and after COVID-19.

The ECE Lab Pros Network Summit stems from the ECE Lab Pros Working Group. The ECE Lab Pros Working Group has gathered at past ECEDHA Annual Conferences for technology demos and dedicated programming. Members are made up of Lab Pros from Arizona State, Baylor, Bucknell, Drexel, Georgia Tech, Iowa State, Rowan, UC Davis, UC San Diego, University of Illinois, University of New Mexico, University of Pennsylvania, and more.

ECEDHA is a non-profit organization composed of 250 departments heads or chairs at institutions offering accredited programs in electrical and/or computer engineering.

“We’ve developed the ECE Lab Pros Network Summit as a means of bringing this community of academics together to engage in group discussions and learn from one another as they share their challenges and triumphs,” said John Janowiak, executive director of ECEDHA. “The dedication and support from the ECE lab pros community has been overwhelming, as shown via participation in our monthly virtual meetings.”

“As ECE departments go through continuous transformation, on-line labs and lab program upgrades continue to be an integral part of the process. Conversations with fellow colleagues are immensely valuable as we navigate student outcomes, through collaboration,” said Sid Deliwala, Director of Lab Programs, University of Pennsylvania and Chairman of the ECE Lab Pros Network Working Group.
