Spero Health Bringing Addiction Treatment to Fairfield Ohio Offering Telehealth Visits

BRENTWOOD, Tenn.--()--Spero Health, a national leader in providing care for individuals struggling with substance use disorders, announced today that it will open a new clinic in Fairfield, Ohio as it continues to respond to the high demand for increased access to addiction treatment services during the COVID-19 pandemic. The new clinic will bring affordable, high quality addiction treatment services through a combination of telehealth and in-person visit options. Located at 5966 Boymel Drive, it is slated to open on May 13th. Spero Health, a CARF-accredited, community-based organization operates more than 35 clinics located throughout Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana and Tennessee, and provides care for more than 7,000 patients each month. Spero Health accepts Ohio Medicaid and most commercial insurance plans. Individuals who need addiction treatment services are encouraged to call: 513-880-0016 for more information or to schedule an appointment.

Fairfield is one of several new clinics Spero Health is opening over the next few months. When speaking about these new clinics Spero Health’s CEO, Steve Priest said, “Every American has been impacted by COVID-19, but those with addiction are facing dire consequences as it becomes harder to keep up treatment regimens or access social supports in a time of physical distancing. There is a fear that the drug epidemic has been made worse through the pandemic as economic indicators point to an increase in substance abuse due to the rise of unemployment which leads to psychological distress and is associated with higher numbers of drug and alcohol misuse. We feel it is critical for communities to have access to life-saving addiction treatment options during this time, and we are working very hard to make that happen.”

Ohio has been among the top five states in recent years with the highest rates of opioid-related overdose deaths, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse. “As the drug epidemic evolves and new patterns emerge, we want to bring a transformative addiction treatment model that will improve social and economic outcomes for those at risk. We need to decrease the gaps that exist for individuals needing immediate access to high quality care, and we know this new Fairfield clinic will be one solution for that.”

When asked his opinion on how COVID-19 is impacting those who are struggling with substance use disorder, VP of Clinical Services for Spero Health, David Hayden said, “Social distancing and lack of social connections and supports during this pandemic have really made it challenging for people in recovery. It is critical that we continue to provide avenues in which we connect with those that need help and to provide innovative ways to deliver comprehensive services. Spero Health is proud to make virtual appointments available, giving people the opportunity to keep close connections with their counselors and physicians on-line and over the phone.”
