AMA Houston Extends Submission Deadline for ‘Gives Back’ Grants for Non-Profit Marketing

Since 2008, AMA Houston Has Donated More than $106K to Help Nearly 50 Non-Profits With Marketing Efforts

HOUSTON--()--AMA Houston, the leading educational information, career-building, and networking resource for Houston’s marketing professionals, today announced that the submission deadline has been extended to May 15, 2020 for the AMA Houston Gives Back grant program, which helps Houston-area non-profits market more effectively.

“Established in 2008 by the late Penny Todd, AMA Houston past president and marketing visionary, Gives Back is AMA Houston’s philanthropic arm. Every year the chapter not only helps local non-profits financially, but also through invaluable mentorships with AMA’s talented membership,” said Erika Waters, AMA Houston President. “During this worldwide health crisis, we are extending the deadline to give local non-profits the extra time they may need to submit an application.”

During the global COVID-19 pandemic, non-profits are filling in gaps and working hard to help people with basic needs. Because of the important work they continually provide our community, AMA Houston’s mission to give back through financial grants and mentorships may play an even more significant role in their communications, marketing, public relations, fundraising and advertising efforts. Past recipients include The Rose, Houston Communications Alliance, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Operations Pets Alive and many others.

“Communications to donors and volunteers meant we had more resources to help more young people,” said Jim McCaskill Director of Community Partnerships for Junior Achievement of Southeast Texas.

AMA Houston Gives Back also provides scholarships to deserving Houston-area undergraduate college students majoring in marketing or a related field through the Penny Todd Scholarship. More than $21,000 has been awarded since 2016 and $5,000 will be awarded this year in Penny’s name. Applications are now available here: https://www.amahouston.org/pennytodd/
