TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Life Investigation Agency, (LIA), teaming with Australia’s Wildlife Rescuers, needs your help rescuing wild animals whose habitats have been destroyed by the bushfires in Australia.
The fires started in September last year and are still burning the forests in the state of New South Wales and parts of mountain area of Victoria State.
Members of the LIA and volunteers are working day and night to rescue wild animals, but the lack of manpower and resources is a challenge.
“We started our rescue efforts from the state of New South Wales to the south and now we are rescuing wild animals on Kangaroo Island. The situation of the burning is grave. One third of the island, 155,000 hectare, was destroyed,” said Ren Yabuki, Director of the Life Investigation Agency.
More than 100,000 marsupial mammals have died in the flames. There were about 50,000 koalas left on Kangaroo Island and more than half of them were killed.
The tragedy surely represents a threat to koalas as a species. Adding to this threat, a disease called chlamydia has been hitting the population of koalas in many parts of Australia, but fortunately, not on Kangaroo Island. So, we must protect the koalas of Kangaroo Island as they might well represent the future of saving their species.”
The other issue caused by the fires is the destruction of the precious food sources of its wildlife. The absence of food is causing the death of the animals by starvation. To save them, we must provide them with food or move them to areas that have not been destroyed.
To do so, we must act, and we must act fast. We need your help, please fund our efforts to protect endangered wild animals on Kangaroo Island by making a donation. Click the following link: https://ngo-lia.org/charity/en_charity.php.
LIA is an independent campaigning organization to investigate, expose, inspire and campaign against the illegal trade in wildlife, the destruction of our natural environment and the abuse for animals. Although we are small organization, we have been waging some campaigns for animals and environmental problems for the past 10 years.
