Los Angeles Business Journal Names Two Ervin Cohen & Jessup Lawyers as Most Influential Minority Attorneys

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ervin Cohen & Jessup today announced that Albert Valencia and Pooja S. Nair have been selected by the Los Angeles Business Journal as Top Minority Attorneys in Los Angeles. The publisher writes that these “particularly stellar minority attorneys in the LA region who happen to be from a broad cultural spectrum” are recognized as professionals “who are particularly impactful and who maintain the highest professional and ethical standards.”

“Albert and Pooja are immensely capable lawyers who have repeatedly proven their ability to deliver the firm’s clients with the greatest degree of strategy and service,” said Co-Managing Partner Randy S. Leff.

The Los Angeles Business Journal writes that “clients look to Valencia for his experience in a broad range of real estate asset classes including commercial, office, retail, multi-family, mixed-use and industrial properties.” Over the past 18 months, Valencia has represented sponsors, developers, and family offices in closing purchase and sale transactions valued at over $535 million, and over $400 million in financing, including the sale of two properties situated on the former Amgen campus in Thousand Oaks with over 400,000 square feet of office space, and the acquisition of a 371,566 square foot Class “A” office tower located in the heart of Chicago’s East Loop. In addition, he also represents clients in the management of its properties including construction, development, and leasing activities.

The journal praises Nair for her recent success “second-chairing a four-week financial fraud jury trial in November 2018, which resulted in a $20.3 million verdict for the client; and her work negotiating a nearly seven-figure settlement agreement to resolve contract dispute between a food exporter and a large customer.” As a business litigator and problem solver, Nair has a focus on the food and beverage sector. She advises clients, startups and other businesses on a comprehensive range of issues including employment, trade secrets, partnership disputes, contract negotiations, intellectual property, licensing and franchise disputes.
