NEWARK, Del.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In line with its mission to equip families with the tools needed to realize their dreams, Sallie Mae® was recently recognized by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption as one of the 100 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces. Sallie Mae provides employees with $10,000 in financial assistance per adopted child, 12 weeks paid parental leave for primary caregivers, and 4 weeks for secondary caregivers.
“We are so pleased to see a growing number of employers recognize the importance of supporting families formed through adoption,” said Rita Soronen, President & CEO of the Foundation. “Congratulations to all the organizations on this year’s list, and thank you for sharing our belief that every child deserves a permanent home and loving family.”
The 100 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplace list compares and ranks employers that offer adoption assistance based on a survey of organizations across the United States. On average, employers that completed the survey offer $9,362 in financial reimbursement, up 1.2% from 2018. The average amount of paid leave was 7.4 weeks, up 1.3% from last year’s list.
“We’re committed to helping families create the lives they imagine, not just at work, but at home,” said Bonnie Rumbold, chief human resources officer, Sallie Mae. “Just like our customers, our employees have goals and dreams that they’re working toward every day to achieve, and providing competitive benefits that assist them inside and outside the office is central to our mission and values at Sallie Mae.”
