EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--LTCG, the recognized leader in business process outsourcing for long term care insurance, is now providing fall prevention services to CalPERS policyholders through its LIFT Wellness™ Program. CalPERS administers benefits for California state employees and retirees as well as their families. Nearly 120,000 people have a CalPERS long term care policy, and eligible individuals now have access to LTCG’s innovative program, which has delivered proven results in reducing the rate and risk of falling among older adults.
LIFT Wellness was developed by LTCG in collaboration with the Department of Health and Human Services in 2008. The program provides active policyholder engagement, in-home assessments, customized action plans and ongoing, telephonic support for each person’s unique needs. Individuals at risk for falls receive personalized intervention to support independence and wellness from trained health coaches, as well as a tool kit designed to promote home safety and other health improvement areas that directly impact fall prevention.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), falls are the most common cause of injury among older adults. The CDC also estimates that falls and fall-related injuries are expected to drive direct and indirect costs reaching $43.8 to $54.9 billion by 2020. And for individuals with long term care insurance, programs like LIFT Wellness help people avoid costly claims and improve their overall health by reducing preventable falls and related medical issues.
“LTCG is proud to partner with CalPERS to offer this important program to the people they serve,” according to LTCG’s CEO Peter Goldstein. “We are pleased that CalPERS, a long-standing LTCG customer, recognizes the value this program can add to the policyholder experience by helping people stay healthy and maintain their independence.”
The LIFT Wellness Program has already been implemented by a number of long term care insurers across the country. With the addition of this new partnership, CalPERS participants age 75 and older who meet certain eligibility requirements now have access to the clinical expertise, support and resources provided via LIFT Wellness, all at no cost to the policyholder.
“The health and safety of CalPERS participants is our top priority, and the LIFT Wellness Program has achieved proven results in fall prevention,” Don Moulds, Chief Health Director of CalPERS, explains. “We are proud to collaborate with LTCG to provide this level of individualized support.”
