TOKYO--()--Coregenik Inc. (headquartered in Tokyo, Tsutomu Kuroda, President and CEO), is releasing a preview version of Teamgenik on December 10, 2019. Teamgenik is an application platform as a service (aPaaS) that was developed using Elixir and Phoenix LiveView.

Teamgenik is an utterly new type of platform that allows coworkers to easily develop mini-apps and mini-social media features.

It is possible with just a mouse to create mini-apps that are connected to databases in the cloud. Users are free to design those databases however they desire. Users can associate a table with other tables. Developed mini-apps can be shared and exchanged among users. And once a user is registered, social media functionality is available as well.

Coregenik has predicted that in the 2020s, as the environments rapidly grow ever more complex when taking advantage of web-based applications, the world of web-application development will primarily focus on functional programming languages. Elixir, one of those programming languages, was used to develop Teamgenik.

Functional programming languages are unique in that they do not directly overwrite data in memory. Data read from memory is instead transformed via functions into different data, which is then written to a different location in memory. This therefore allows multiple programs, running in parallel, to work with the same data without the risk of a data discrepancy occurring. Elixir is therefore uniquely suited to the development of web-based applications where many users are accessing at the same time. The true value of Elixir becomes particularly apparent at a time when the use of multi-core CPUs has become common.

Phoenix LiveView is an Elixir library that allows HTML data assembled on the server end to be synchronized among browsers using WebSockets. The use of Phoenix LiveView enables the processing that used to occur using front-end JavaScript programs to now occur in Elixir programs on the server end. As a result, there are reductions in the amount of time needed for development and testing work, as well as reductions in the risk of confidential data leaks and illegal access.

NOTE: Some functionality will be implemented in the spring of 2020.
