NEW YORK--()--Chicory founders, Yuni Sameshima and Joey Petracca, were announced as honorees in Forbes’ esteemed 30 Under 30 list Class of 2020 in the Retail & Ecommerce category. Now in its ninth year, the list celebrates and highlights young entrepreneurial leaders and game changers across 20 categories. Over 15,000 submissions were received for the Forbes 30 Under 30 list’s limited 600 slots, resulting in a highly competitive 4% acceptance rate.

“Joey and I are honored to be included in the revered Forbes 30 Under 30 Class of 2020 for our achievements with Chicory, our grocery technology company. We couldn’t have grown our company to its scale today without our steadfast and loyal employees and investors, who played a crucial part in bringing our vision to life,” said Yuni Sameshima, Chicory’s CEO and cofounder. “We’re all so inspired by the growing number of young entrepreneurs and Joey and I are thrilled to be featured among so many innovative and revolutionary industry disruptors. We look forward to joining a valuable network of over 5,000 individuals globally and through Chicory, we will continue to embody the entrepreneurial spirit of the Forbes organization.”

At Chicory’s conception in 2013, then-students Yuni Sameshima and Joey Petracca aimed to help consumers turn recipes into reality from their dorm room at Colgate University. The founders joined Thought into Action, Colgate’s student incubator to launch their early shoppable recipe prototype, and were inaugurated into the Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator’s seventh startup class in New York City a year later.

Today, Chicory is a New York City-based grocery technology firm that helps food brands and grocery retailers reach shoppers more effectively by developing custom ecommerce and advertising solutions. From executing digital marketing campaigns for Fortune 100 companies to providing ecommerce tools to independent food blogs, Chicory creates the digital tools to take shoppers from inspiration to checkout in a few clicks. In 2019, Chicory will facilitate $25 million in grocery orders.

As the leading provider of shoppable recipe technology since 2014, Chicory’s machine learning algorithm maps individual ingredients to shoppable products sold by retailers and brands. This tech combined with an extensive network comprised of over 1,350 publishers provides unprecedented access to consumer shopping insights. Customizable for every brand, Chicory leverages its technology to serve hyper-relevant advertising to consumers who use recipes to plan their meals and shopping trips.
