Ganesh Ramratan Appointed Chief Information Officer of MetroPlus Health Plan

NEW YORK--()--MetroPlus Health Plan announced today the appointment of Ganesh Ramratan as the health plan’s new Chief Information Officer (CIO). Ganesh Ramratan assumed his new position on November 25.

“I am delighted to announce Ganesh Ramratan’s appointment as Chief Information Officer. We are confident he is the leader we need to drive IT innovation at the Plan, where he will be responsible for the organization’s information systems and their security in supporting the Plan’s objectives, while enhancing member and provider experience through critical technology solutions,” said MetroPlus President & CEO Talya Schwartz, MD.

“It is a privilege to take on this role and be able to be of service to MetroPlus, its employees, and so many New Yorkers,” said Ganesh Ramratan. “MetroPlus has been providing affordable, high-quality health coverage to New Yorkers, regardless of their situation, since 1985. I am honored to support the plan’s mission of inclusive, person-centered, quality-driven care, and look forward to providing best-practices information technology services and solutions to our tens of thousands of providers and more than 500,000 members.”

Ramratan comes to MetroPlus from the NYC Department of Investigations (DOI), where, since 2013, as CIO and Deputy Commissioner, he oversaw the agency’s Information Technology unit and, through his successful initiatives, led an overhaul of DOI’s use of technology, significantly strengthening and modernizing its IT infrastructure. Prior to joining DOI, he worked for the Department of Information Technology and NYC's Department of Transportation. He began his career in City government in 1994 with the New York City Transit Authority.

Ganesh Ramratan holds an MBA in Computer Information Technology Administration and Management from NY Institute of Technology (NYIT) and earned his undergraduate degree from Western Governors University.
