ETFMG Announces 25-Year ETF Veteran as New Chief Investment Officer

SUMMIT, N.J.--()--Today, ETF Managers Group (ETFMG) announces Frank Vallario as the new Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and the expansion of their Portfolio Management team with the addition of Sr. Portfolio Manager, Donal Bishnoi, CFA. ETFMG is known for creating innovative, first-to-market, exchange-traded funds that pave the way for global investment themes such as: cannabis, cybersecurity and mobile payments. The firm has seen continuous growth year-after-year due in large part to broadening its team of professionals allowing it to differentiate itself in the ever-evolving ETF universe.

New CIO, Frank Vallario, joined ETFMG at the beginning of the 3rd quarter of 2019 from Invesco which acquired his previous firm, OppenheimerFunds. The 25-year portfolio management and ETF veteran has managed over $20B in assets and 30 ETFs across his career. Prior to his role at OppenheimerFunds’ Beta Solutions business, Vallario held several senior roles in his financial services career. Previously, he held positions at Columbia Threadneedle, where he oversaw the portfolio management of 10 ETFs; representing developed, emerging and frontier markets. Before that he held positions at MSCI, Holmgren Capital Management, American Independence Financial Services, UBS Global Asset Management and UBS O’Conner. As Chief Investment Officer, Vallario will oversee the Portfolio Management desk; managing portfolio construction, risk management and portfolio analysis processes associated with the firm’s ETF strategies.

“I have great confidence that Frank’s leadership and proven expertise will elevate our unique product capabilities, allow us to expand our product offering and continue to push the ETFMG brand forward,” says Masucci. “My vision to grow assets and ETFMG’s stature in the marketplace will be achieved by adding depth to our bench with highly skilled ETF professionals. The addition of Frank and Donal into our organization further enhances our value as a leader in the thematic ETF space.”

In addition to strengthening the senior leadership team, ETFMG welcomes Donal Bishnoi, CFA, as a Senior Portfolio Manager. Bishnoi has more than 16 years of experience in portfolio and risk management. Mr. Bishnoi’s previous role held was a Senior Portfolio Manager with OppenheimerFunds where he was responsible for managing approximately $5B in assets across 20 passive strategies. Prior to joining OppenheimerFunds, he managed a long/short systematic equity strategy at Moore Capital. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Boston University’s Questrom School of Business and is a CFA charter holder.

Both Vallario and Bishnoi bring unique perspectives and extensive expertise in their respective fields and will report directly to Chief Executive Officer and Founder Sam Masucci. ETFMG is confident they will make an immediate and positive impact on the firm.
