WASHINGTON--()--EYP Architecture & Engineering, a national leader in integrated design approach and comprehensive high-performance building design, announced Teresa Rainey P.E., LEED Fellow as its director of engineering. In this role, Rainey will be responsible for setting the firm’s vision within its engineering division, as well as guiding the division’s leadership team to success.

Rainey’s recent experience as EYP’s director of high performance design, as well as her past experience in leading an integrated sustainability and engineering team at SOM, has prepared her to successfully carry out her newest leadership position at EYP. She is also an industry-recognized leader as a peer reviewer for the Department of Energy and the Government Services Administration. During her time at EYP, Rainey has provided leadership in building high performance design capabilities and has brought innovative engineering to many higher education, healthcare, government, and science and technology projects over the past five years.

“We have a great opportunity to have a true impact on projects,” said Rainey. “Engineering is an integral component to design, and we’re embracing this collaborative approach across all projects. It’s about understanding the clients’ goals so we can develop creative solutions that support achieving those goals.”

As the director of engineering, Rainey aims to fully integrate engineering into every project in the firm’s thriving practice. The team is responding to growing needs, and therefore is creating more career opportunities within the firm. One of Rainey’s goals is to expand and recruit for the engineering team to bring more expertise to the table, so the team can continue to develop and implement the best integrated solutions for the firm’s clients.

“I plan on leading this team to new heights, while continuing to successfully weave our engineering discipline into the design process, from start to finish,” said Rainey. “My immediate goal is to continue building the team and equip them to succeed at all stages of a project’s lifecycle, while exceeding client expectations.”

Rainey will be working with team leaders in three key offices led by Emery Otruba and John Boyer, who will be leading the charge in EYP’s Albany, Washington, D.C. and Boston offices. The collective team will bring combined engineering expertise to each office, while bringing thought leadership and collaboration to every project to best serve EYP’s clients across the country.
