ESPN commentator Matt Stinchcomb demonstrates how to build an easy, cost-effective outdoor cooking island in the new Exmark video, Grill Like A Champion.

BEATRICE, Neb.--()--Sports fans won’t want to miss Exmark’s latest game day tips videos. Hosted by ESPN commentator, SEC Network analyst and college football Hall of Famer, Matt Stinchcomb, each of the five new videos offers insights on how to pull off unforgettable big game watch parties in your own back yard.

“Most sports fans will agree that few things can help liven up backyard sports parties like great tasting food served up from a clean, good looking serving area,” Stinchcomb says. “However, while many of us may crave an elaborate outdoor cooking area, it might not be practical due to the space, cost and upkeep that’s involved.”

In the new video, Grill Like A Champion, Stinchcomb demonstrates the construction of an easy, cost-effective outdoor cooking island that’ll help transform the grill, smoker and cooler into a food and beverage focal point that’s sure to keep friends and family well fed.

“The overall design and style we chose was inspired by examples found on social media. Your end product may vary slightly depending on the size of the cooking area, as well as the grill, smoker and cooler you’re working with.”

The outdoor cooking island requires relatively few materials, such as cedar structural posts, cosmetic exterior slats (used for the island surround), and hardware to fasten the pieces together securely.

“Our materials were purchased to house a 46-inch tall by 62-inch wide by 23.5-inch deep stainless gas grill, a medium-size smoker and a 54-quart stainless cooler, as well as accommodate additional under-counter space for storage shelving."

While the gas grill and cooler Stinchcomb uses are available at a wide variety of big box home and garden retailers, he recommends purchasing the smoker from a retailer that specializes in them. Doing so helps to ensure the availability of parts and accessories for the smoker for years to come.
