HONOLULU--()--Adjusters International, the premier public insurance adjusting company in the Pacific Region, specializing in commercial, government, and large-scale residential claims, is teaching continuing education classes for insurance professionals throughout the Hawaiian Islands. Insurance brokers, agents, account executives, and others are invited to attend these classes.

Adjusters International’s instructor for these continuing education classes is Paul Migdal, Esq. Paul Migdal is an experienced public insurance adjuster, disaster recovery consultant, attorney, insurance industry insider, and is an Executive Vice President of Adjusters International. With more than 40 years of experience in the insurance industry, Paul is a recognized expert on the topics of insurance, risk management, financial recovery, and insurance claims.

In the continuing education classes, Paul shares valuable knowledge about how insurance policies and types of coverage actually apply in different disaster and property damage scenarios. Paul has been invited to teach more than 180 continuing education classes to more than 3,500 insurance and business professionals across the Western States, Midwest, and Hawaii. Paul is approved as an education provider by the Insurance Commissioner of the State of Hawaii. The focus of Adjusters International’s class, to be taught on the Big Island, Kauai, Maui, and Oahu is Property Insurance Issues, along with the complex topic of Hawaii hurricane insurance.

“Insurance companies require policyholders to prove the dollar amount of their property damage and loss of income claims, and this is an overwhelming challenge for people who do not regularly practice this complex work,” says Steve Severaid, SPPA, Senior Vice President of Adjusters International. “We see the trend that insurance companies continue to increase their requirements for proving a claim, and business owners, who try to go it alone, struggle to achieve sufficient claim payments to stay in business. Hundreds of policyholders hire us every year to prepare, present, and negotiate favorable insurance payments for them, and our team is always up to speed on the changing demands of the many insurance companies.”

In an insurance claim, every type of damage must be attributed to a covered peril, and every damaged item must be included in the claim and assigned to an area of coverage, if the policyholder hopes to achieve payment. Storm damage can include broken windows, collapsed roofs, flooding and other types of water damage, power outages, mudslides, rockslides, and damaged roadways that block ingress and egress to businesses that halt operations and compound the property damage with a loss of income, and loss of rents. Hundreds and even thousands of lines of items, damage, and dollar amounts go into a claim. Documenting, and valuing the extent of the damage is hugely time-consuming for individuals, and they frequently leave numerous items off the claim. This represents many thousands of dollars that will not be recovered.

Adjusters International’s teams of licensed public insurance adjusters helps business owners, homeowners associations, and public entities in the aftermath of nearly every conceivable type of property damage, from wildfires and earthquakes to tidal waves, and of course hurricanes. Clients benefit from Adjusters International’s extensive experience with major storms that include Hurricane Iwa in 1982, Hurricane Iniki in 1992, Typhoon Paka in 1997, Hurricanes Rita and Katrina in 2005, Super Storm Sandy in 2012, Hurricane Harvey in 2017, Hurricane Irma in 2017, Hurricane Maria in 2017, and many more. Licensed public insurance adjusters are available to provide property damage claim reviews, and a strategic roadmap to recovery, 24-hours a day.
