Fordham Law School Launches Online Master’s Program in Corporate Compliance

NEW YORK--()--Fordham Law School announced today that it has launched an online version of its Master of Studies in Law (MSL) in Corporate Compliance program. Fordham was one of the first law schools to offer a master’s in corporate compliance when it began the program in 2016 and is one of the top-ranked law schools to offer a compliance master’s program online. The online format enables students to take advantage of Fordham’s industry-leading compliance program at a time that fits into their schedules, wherever they are based.

“We have heard from many people who wanted to enroll in our MSL program but were unable to because of their work commitments or their location outside of the New York area,” said Robert Mascola, the senior director of compliance programs at Fordham Law School. “There is growing demand for compliance education, and now the law school’s exceptional faculty and many compliance offerings are available to people throughout the world.” Almost half of the 28 students in the inaugural class come from outside of the New York area, and include students from overseas.

The program provides students a solid foundation in the U.S. legal and regulatory system and business law, as well as in key compliance risk areas, such as fraud, corruption, money-laundering, and sanctions. Students learn what it takes to manage corporate compliance risks and build strong ethics and compliance programs. The program, which consists of 30 credits and can be completed in as few as 12 months, is specifically for non-lawyers who are interested in advancing their careers by learning about corporate compliance from a legal perspective. Most of the students come to the program with several years of relevant professional experience and currently work in the compliance field, so what they learn in class can be applied directly to their work.

“The depth and breadth of the experience of the incoming students is truly impressive,” Mascola said. “That diversity creates a rich environment for students to learn from one another.”

Classes include Global Corporate Compliance, Compliance Risk Assessment and International Financial Crimes, as well as a capstone course where students in their final semester apply what they have learned in an independent in-depth paper on a compliance topic. Students also participate in an in-person colloquium at Fordham Law’s Lincoln Center campus, where they will have a chance to interact with top compliance professionals. Graduates will receive a Master of Science in Law in Corporate Compliance.

Fordham Law School has a long tradition of promoting ethics and integrity and is committed to using the law to influence better business practices. Details about the program are here: https://onlinelaw.fordham.edu/mslpr/.
