Shopping with a Purpose: Visa extends its support of Women’s World Banking for the Third Season

NEW YORK--()--Today, Visa (NYSE:V) announced its renewed sponsorship of New York Fashion Week: The Shows (NYFW) as the Official Payment Technology Partner. This season, Visa is leveraging NYFW as an opportunity to expand its efforts in supporting and empowering women who are moving the fashion industry forward to make positive change. Through its Everywhere Fashion Week Pop-Up shop at Spring Studios, and sponsorship of Toni Garrn’s Supermodel Flea Market, Visa is promoting retail experiences that benefit Women’s World Banking and the Toni Garrn Foundation, while highlighting the ease and convenience of Tap to Pay technology.

The Visa Everywhere Fashion Week Pop-Up Shop

For its third season as the Official Payment Technology Partner of NYFW, Visa is creating the Visa Everywhere Fashion Week Pop-Up shop which will feature curated Fashion Week ‘essential’ products from all female-founded brands, 100% of the purchase price of products sold will benefit Women’s World Banking, a non-profit providing women entrepreneurs around the world the financial tools and resources they need to pursue their dreams. The retail experience deepens the connection between She’s Next, Empowered by Visa, Visa’s global initiative to support and champion women in their efforts to run, fund and grow their small businesses, and Rebecca Minkoff’s Female Founder Collective – a network of businesses led by women, supporting women.

Items from female-founded companies in the Visa Everywhere Fashion Week Pop-Up shop include exclusive products from Appointed, Baggu, Lingua Franca and Sold Out NYC, as well as other “on-the-go” necessities from Kitsch, Rebecca Minkoff and Rhino Parade. Customers will be able to tap to pay with their Visa contactless cards or digital wallets at Poynt payment terminals, featuring Visa’s sensory branding suite.

Women on the Move

In addition to its activation on-site, Visa is facilitating conversation, highlighting powerful industry voices who are inspiring change for women and the fashion industry at large.

  • Visa is the presenting sponsor of E!’s Front Five panel and docuseries. E!’s Front Five will take you inside fashion to get a first-hand look at how each professional is influential in their respective field. This season’s spotlight will be on: Lily Aldridge, supermodel & entrepreneur; Luna Blaise, actress; Halima Aden, model & UNICEF Ambassador; Kim Shui, designer; and Jason Wu, designer.
  • Back by popular demand, Visa is hosting a panel conversation called “Women on the Move” aimed to highlight the stories of trailblazing and inspirational women who are moving the industry forward; panelists include: Lindsay Peoples Wagner, Editor in Chief, Teen Vogue; Becca McCharen-Tran, Founder & Creative Director, Chromat; and Lauren Wasser, model & activist. And the panel will be moderated by Mary Ann Reilly, Senior Vice President, North America Marketing, Visa.

Supermodel Flea Market

Beyond the footprint at Spring Studios, Visa has teamed up with the Toni Garrn Foundation to host the Supermodel Flea Market, now in its fourth year, which will feature rare runway looks, couture ensembles and accessories from the closets of top models, designers and friends of Toni Garrn. Visa is the preferred payment partner of the Supermodel Flea Market, where customers can tap to pay, and proceeds will benefit Toni Garrn Foundation and its mission to support girls’ education initiatives, empowering not only the children, but also their families and communities in Africa.

The Supermodel Flea Market is open to the public in the Library of 11 Howard Hotel in SoHo September 12 – September 15 featuring approximately 1,000 items.
